Dr Monica Augusto graduated from Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) Portugal in 2001. After a couple of years in small animal general practice, she completed a one-year rotating internship at the R(D)SVS, University of Edinburgh in 2004 and later a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at GUVS, University of Glasgow in 2009. Following a short period working at the oncology service at the University of Liverpool, Monica worked in a private referral hospital in Winchester, UK for several years before moving back to academia, first as a Staff Clinician at the RVC, London and since September 2017 as an Assistant professor in Small Animal Medicine at University College Dublin, Ireland. Monica obtained the European Diploma in Small Animal Veterinary Internal in 2014, and she is a recognised specialist by the European Board Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS). She has a Master’s degree in Clinical Oncology by the University of Birmingham, UK and a Post-graduate diploma in Higher Education by UCD, Ireland. Her areas of interest include haematology, oncology, in particular haematopoietic tumours, endocrinology and feline gastroenterology.
